1. Why This Exists

Most retirement calculators available to Indian savers are either built by fund houses to sell a specific product, or oversimplify the math to a single "12% return, 6% inflation" slider. Neither approach reflects how a real Indian career actually plays out — EPF and VPF compounding at government-notified rates, salary hikes that outpace inflation early on and slow down later, category-wise inflation (healthcare and education rise faster than groceries), and two different income tax regimes to plan against.

CorpusCalculator.com was built by an independent software engineer to close that gap: a calculator precise enough to model those specifics, without an agenda to sell a mutual fund, insurance policy, or advisory retainer at the end of it.

2. How the Calculations Work

The engine models your inputs — current age, salary, EPFO balance, existing investments, and target retirement age — through year-by-year compounding, applying:

• EPF/VPF interest at the rate last notified by the EPFO, including the ₹2.5 lakh annual contribution threshold for tax-free interest.
• Configurable equity, debt, and inflation assumptions so you can stress-test optimistic and conservative scenarios rather than relying on one fixed number.
• Old and new income tax regime slabs for a more realistic post-tax picture.
• A post-retirement withdrawal simulation (safe withdrawal rate and SWP modeling) to check how long a given corpus actually lasts, not just how large it grows.

Reference rates (EPF interest, tax slabs) are updated periodically as new government notifications are published. As explained in our Disclaimer Policy, always cross-check current rates with the EPFO or Income Tax Department before acting on any output.
